wow, that thing is nice. We have one here at my dealer (Texas) but it's in rough shape. Is that what they are going for in that good shape? £12,995

I think this one might be a bit of an exceptional one. I've seen them before in a lesser spec for £8,000. I think they'll be waiting a while before this one sells.

oh ok. I've always wondered the the range was on them, thanks :]

The one we have here is a total rust bucket, it was sitting in a field for a while but it runs now at least. Not sure how much the owner wants to put in it

No worries :) those prices are for Spit6 conversions though.

Just plain Spitfires range from £800 for a project, through to £1500 for a runner and £4000 for a rather nice one. Mk3s, Mk2s and Mk1s are about £1000 more expensive than that at any given condition.

Oh, and do you know what the chassis' like on it? Provided that's good you can just swap the bodyshell over for a nicer one. They're certainly common enough for that to be feasible over here.

oh ok, that makes more sense. I guess just like anything for that guy to keep the costs down.

the chassis doesn't look to good. I put an new OEM replacement exhaust on it and I saw signs that it had been repaired at the front control arms once a long white ago. Also, both seat bolts are completely rusted through lol. Not sure how the seats don't just come off :]

Repairs aren't uncommon, especially on the outriggers that bolt to the body. Mine's got some rust right at the front, and by the feel of things a nice layer of surface rust on the inside of the box-section. That's why I'm getting it chemical-dipped and electrolyte painted. I could put hours of effort into painting the outside, but it'd just rust slowly from the inside which would be galling.

The seat bolts do tend to rust nastily. I wonder whether the actual rails have rusted themselves onto the floor :S

yeah that's true, I feel this will need plenty if we ever get the body off. That is possible on the seats. You can move the seat from under the car lol. Up next, he has a Lotus Europa that has been sitting for 10 years, that's going to be fun lol
